Mother's Day

So we celebrated Mother’s Day this past Sunday. But instead of writing some sappy poem to express our love (again, those stinking creative writing classes) let’s just list all the great things our mothers did for us so we could be the next Michael Jordan; or at least try to be.
-Mom drove us to baseball practice and then to football practice. Then our sister to soccer and our brother to karate. Then back to pick us up at football in time to drop off sister at softball after picking up brother at karate. And then picked sister after all that. It’s a miracle the minivan lasted as long as it did.
-Mom always had great halftime and post-game snacks. Orange slices, Little Debbies, Gatorade, grapes and pizza. Half the fun of the game was eating.
-Mom somehow got those grass and dirt stains to come out. Those were the same stains the NASA guys couldn’t get out, but she did. White shorts never looked so good after she finished with them.
-Mom saved us from dad. When the old man was yelling at us for letting a slow grounder go between the legs she came to the rescue. “Quiet honey. He’s just a kid.”
-Mom has the perfect healing touch for those bruises and cuts. She knew exactly how to blow on the alcohol so it wouldn’t sting and got the Band-Aid on perfectly.
So the next time someone calls you a “momma’s boy” just reply by proudly saying “you’re dang right.”
